Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR’s)
Electricity is integral to everyday life but can be hazardous if not handled with care. The best way to prevent potential risks is to check the condition of your electrical installation regularly. Faulty or old wiring are typically the leading causes of house fires, so it’s essential to inspect for signs of wear and tear. By inspecting the condition of cables, sockets, switches, and other electrical accessories, we can significantly reduce the risk of fires. All electrical installations will deteriorate over time due to their various components. Regular maintenance can extend the life of your electrical system and reduce the risks as far as reasonably practical.
BS 7671:2008 recommends that a competent person should periodically inspect and test every electrical installation.
Wealden Electrical has over 20 years of experience conducting electrical installation condition reports (EICR’s). It’s worth mentioning that older installations built based on previous versions of BS 7671 may not meet the requirements of the current edition. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are unsafe for ongoing use or require an immediate upgrade.
